Family Visits
At NSI, family involvement is considered an integral part of the overall treatment for the student. The type of involvement and amount of contact is based on each student’s individual long-range goals, as well as the family history.

Phone Calls
We allow, and in fact, encourage phone calls with family. We usually monitor those calls. We have found that our family work is much stronger when contacts occur as a team, especially in the early stages of the student’s program.

Mail
Students are allowed to exchange letters and packages with family members as approved by the student's placing agency and NSI.

Visits
Home visits provide an important opportunity for our students to practice their newly learned skills in a setting other than NSI and to stay connected with family.

Home Visit Questionnaire
To help us incorporate the home visits into the student’s overall program, and to reinforce to the student that all of the adults on their team are working together, NSI has developed a home visit questionnaire that gives parents the opportunity to give us feedback about the visit.
