NSI Academy Launches New 90 Day Adolescent Substance Abuse Program

With economic trends placing pressure on families, we’ve seen an increase in substance abuse among juveniles.  As a result, we’ve modified our existing substance abuse program to also assist with short-term recovery.  The 90 day program focuses on giving the student a chance to explore the physiological, psychological and sociological aspects of addiction as well as teach the student both new coping skills and alternative lifestyle choices to substance abuse. This is accomplished through interactive activities, role playing, lectures, group discussions and reviewing current research information on specific substances. The program consists of a number of different treatment components to give a comprehensive approach to both understanding the addiction process and to develop successful relapse prevention skills.

  • Substance Abuse Group. The student will attend Substance Abuse Group, which is facilitated by a licensed therapist, three times a week to address 26 topics of substance abuse, its dangers and long term implications.
  • Education/Study Hall. The student will continue studies and class work from their home school district. Certified teaching staff is available to assist, instruct and tutor. Our education department will be in touch with home school district on a regular basis.
  • Individual Therapy. In many cases, there are often underlying issues and complications that impact a student. Thus, individual therapy allows the student to openly address these issues and find ways of effectively dealing with and resolving them.
  • Family Therapy. The family is involved in the student’s progress after first 30 days.  Family sessions occur in person or over the phone and enable the student to begin the process of reemerging with family successfully upon discharge.
  • Relapse Prevention Plan. The student will be required to complete a comprehensive Relapse Prevention Plan (RPP) before discharge. The RPP consists of future plans, identification of triggers, interventions for these triggers and self assessment of the consequences of past substance abuse.
